Tribal governments may request a federal disaster declaration directly from FEMA, enabling access to public assistance, individual assistance, and hazard mitigation funds.
Low Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP)

Helps low-income households pay heating and cooling bills. Many Tribal Nations receive LIHEAP funds directly to administer for their communities.
BIA General Assistance (Emergency)

Provides emergency financial assistance for basic subsistence needs including food, shelter, clothing, and utilities to eligible tribal members.

Call or text 988 to reach a crisis counselor. Native Americans and Alaska Natives can press 2 after calling to be connected to a counselor with expertise in Indigenous communities.
National Center for Missing & Exploited Children

Who qualifies: Anyone reporting a missing child under 18
24/7 hotline for reporting missing children. NCMEC coordinates with law enforcement on AMBER Alerts and provides family support services.
VAWA Tribal Governments Program

Who qualifies: Federally recognized Tribal governments
Grants to Tribal governments to develop and strengthen Tribal responses to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. VAWA 2022 expanded Tribal Special Domestic Violence Criminal Jurisdiction.
